December 2018 Announcements

THANK YOU to all who helped to make our annual Kumla Dinner & Harvest Sale a success. Final figures are not yet available, but we raised approximately $5,800.00 after expenses.

THANK YOU for coming to my 100th birthday celebration, for the beautiful cards containing special kind messages, and the gifts. Thanks to family for hosting the happy occasion. Blessings to you!

ATTENTION CANDY, COOKIE & KRINGLA MAKERS: This year Bethany will be delivering plates of cookies, candy, and kringla to nursing home residents, those who are homebound, and others. This morning we will be making up plates to deliver during Fellowship Coffee. Please bring your donated goodies to church next week. If you know someone who would enjoy a plate of goodies, please let the church know. There will be a list for you to sign up to deliver plates as well.

THERE ARE STILL ANGEL TREE TAGS available. Gifts needs to be delivered to the church today or tomorrow. All gifts go to children in this area.

WANTED: MUSICIANS – We’re looking for people of all ages who are interested in learning to play the guitar. Guitar and lessons will be provided. Please talk to Pastor Kathy if you’re interested.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE CONTINUES TODAY. The Sunday School Christmas program will be held next Sunday, December 16.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE will be held on Saturday, December 15, beginning at 10:30 (or as soon as children are done meeting Santa at the Legion hall). It will run until about 12:30; pizza will be served.

OUR DAILY BREAD devotional booklets for December-February are available on the table in the narthex.

DAYCARE ITEMS NEEDED: The daycare is looking for donations of a variety of items. There is a complete list in the December New Light and also posted on the bulletin board in the upper hallway.

Donations may be brought to the church and placed in the tub at the top of the steps outside the church office.

THE MITTEN TREE is up in the upper hallway. This year we’re partnering with the Hope Ministries HUGS program. So in addition to hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for all ages, we’re also collecting men’s underwear in all sizes and white tube socks for men. Underwear and socks will go to Hope Ministries, along with any hats, gloves, scarves and mittens that are not needed locally.

WORSHIP SERVICE DVD’S from the previous week are available on the table in the narthex for anyone who was unable to be here last week and would like to watch the service.

THURSDAY MORNING WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY has begun a new study based on John Ortberg’s book, If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat. All women in the congregation are invited to join us at 10:00 on Thursday morning.

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER MINISTERS will gather in the Fellowship Room for a time of prayer following our worship service this morning. If you are presently involved in our prayer ministry, or if you would like to be, join us. Anyone in need of prayer is encouraged to come and receive.

“LOOSE CHANGE TO LOOSEN CHAINS: Our 7th grade confirmands are collecting loose change to benefit victims of human trafficking. All proceeds go toward the work of the International Justice Mission. They have set a goal of $3000.00. So far they have collected $1,676.84.
